ABOUT WEIGHT GAIN
WHILE QUITTING SMOKING
Many people complain
that when they try to quit smoking, their weight
balloons up quickly and they would rather smoke then
have that happen. That is because they see only
those two options; smoking with no weight gain, or
weight gain with no smoking.
But it is not
necessarily natural that one is linked to the other.
The reason many people gain weight is because they
sublimate food for smoking. The "hand to mouth"
portion of their habit is still going strong, and
the need to exercise that part becomes the driving
reason that one will put food into one's mouth when
the craving for a cigarette is present.
There is also a
calming effect to eating. When one quits smoking
"cold turkey", there is a tension experienced in the
body. That tension is because the smoker has placed
a second habit in conflict with the first. The first
habit is to smoke. The second is to deny the first.
So now, at the subconscious level, there is a battle
going on. The two habits which are in resistance to
each other take up a lot of the subconscious "RAM"
of the brain, therefore leaving little left to
concentrate on the daily rigors of normal life.
People get testy, nervous, anxious, sometimes even
depressed. So the tend to snack more than they
would, and fill up more on meals. They also tend to
gravitate toward sweets and less healthy foods,
because they feel that since they are denying
themselves the "pleasure" of smoking, they are
entitled to something to replace that gratification.
This is called deprivation compensation.
With the UltraQuit
Program, since you may smoke every cigarette you
truly feel the need for, you never resist that
"craving urge" to smoke. Yes, you consider each
cigarette, and whether that one is motivated from
your nicotine addiction, which alone drives the
craving, or if it is simply a habit cigarette, being
smoked because that's when you've always done it in
the past.
Also, since you will
be taking the specially formulated nicotine
replacement capsules four times per day, which
coincides with the natural cycle of a nicotine
addict's need for a "fix", the urge to smoke
motivated by nicotine addiction is greatly
diminished.
Since there is no
sublimation with food, there is no extra weight gain
with the UltraQuit System of smoking cessation. |
